This passion grew into a business where I use my artistic skills to bring joy and lasting memories for brides and people transitioning through different stages of their life journey. Natural henna takes 24-28 hours to reach peak stain. Jagua takes 12-24 hours to reach peak stain.
Keep the paste on a minimum of 3 hours. Overnight or 8 hours gives the best stain results. You can dab it with sugary lemon mixture if you're not sleeping with it. Cover it with a breathable surgical tape if you're leaving it overnight so it doesn't stain other objects with which it comes in contact.
Scrape off the henna/jagua paste once it's been on long enough or take off the bandage if that was your preferred sealant. Using a natural oil and using a blunt object makes rubbing the paste off easier.
Apply a natural moisturiser like coconut or olive oil to the fresh stain to seal the colour in while it's developing.
Washing with soap and swimming in chlorinated and salt water for the first 24 hours after taking off the paste with prevent it from reaching a deep colour.
Henna and Jagua fade as the top layer of skin replaces itself and dead skin cells are shed. Exfoliation speeds up that process.
Henna will last 7-10 days and jagua will last up to 2-3 weeks. Stain is darkest on hands and feet.
